12:45 – 13:00 Registration
13:00 – 13:15 Introduction
13:15 – 14:00 Kinect
How does Kinect work? How can I code my own app using Kinect? What are the possibilities using Kinect? This talk will give you answers to these questions. You will get an overview of the Kinect technology and an introduction in how to use the Kinect SDK. Furthermore various examples will be shown what apps can be built with Kinect. After this workshop you should have an idea how to start building your own application with Kinect.
14:00 – 14:45 Kinect for Unity
Controlling games with the Kinect is one thing – Ever wanted to record your own animations? Lacking marker suits, mocap-studio or the money for a proper mocap session? Or you want to use handcrafted objects in your game? Paired with Unity, the Kinect v2 sensor can take care of that, beyond actual in-game interaction. In this session we will look at the SDK, then I will show you how to implement gesture control for your Unity game and finally we can record some signature moves for your in-game characters.
14:45 – 15:00 Break
15:00 – 15:45 Cortana
Cortana, Microsoft’s personal digital assistant, makes for an intuitive experience through natural language interaction. The assistant is available across Windows 10 PCs, as well as tablets and phones. It is powered by Bing and uses machine learning, speech recognition and natural language processing to help you get things done throughout the day. Its features include, among others, setting reminders, making calls, sending texts or tracking flights. Furthermore, Cortana offers developers the possibility to extend her basic functionality with voice commands that launch and execute actions in their application. In this workshop you will learn how to develop speech-enabled apps and integrate them with Cortana. First we will take a closer look on how you can enable users to activate your app through Cortana. Then we will proceed with the Speech SDK and we will learn how to use speech synthesis and speech recognition to continue the conversation we started with Cortana within the app. In order to develop Universal Windows Platform Apps with Cortana and the Speech SDK you will need Visual Studio 2015 and Windows 10.
